for profit.
these conservatives, republicans, and "others" (greed mongers) that encourage privatizing our "public" education and instead boost "for profit" charter school trip me out.
why do they like to compare what we should be doing to places like "south korea" and "china", and suggest that somehow they have it right on education, and that we should follow the lead. they actually make a case that a class of 100 kids is better than a class of 30, just as long as we pay the teachers more money and invest in a little more training.
since when does the unites states strive to be like south korea, or china? no offense to south korea, but for the benefit of making something more profitable, these guys will kick any sense of american pride out the window.
whatever happened to patriotism? when did money pass pride as something to admire?
they back up their ideas with skewed facts, polls, surveys, etc., and in a lot of instances, just plain lies. the real facts are that they are talking while pushing an agenda that is really only good for them and their benefactors, not the american public.
if all the best school are for profit charter schools, where do the families that cant afford to pay for something that is currently free supposed to go? i guess they just settle for a lesser education, and i guess that means they settle for a lesser life due to that lack of education? kind of sounds like a sneaky form of oppression being sold as "whats best for us", but its not.
kind of like...
"sure you can eat here, we serve all, our cheapest appetizer is only $500, and entrees start out at $1000 a plate -- oh? you dont have $500?? well then, im sorry, sir -- however, if you go down the street and make a left, i am sure the hamburger stand on the right will have something more suitable for your budget."
is that it? should we always settle for less and like it?
i dont think so.
