WAR, WAR, AND MORE WAR!

So as I read the news it’s starting to feel like we are headed for a future of more long drawn out war. The United States is fighting wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, neither of which seems like they are close to a decisive victory. Russia is bullying its neighbors and other European countries. Israel is now fighting a new war against Arabs, and this time it seems like they want to make something permanent. India and Pakistan are facing off and building up their military’s at the borders. It seems like something bad is brewing.

obamas victory speech...

IF there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible; who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time; who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer. It’s the answer told by lines that stretched around schools and churches in numbers this nation has never seen; by people who waited three hours and four hours, many for the very first time in their lives, because they believed that this time must be different; that their voice could be that difference. It’s the answer spoken by young and old, rich and poor, Democrat and Republican, black, white, Latino, Asian, Native American, gay, straight, disabled and not disabled – Americans who sent a message to the world that we have never been a collection of Red States and Blue States: we are, and always will be, the United States of America. It’s the answer that led those who have been told for so long by so many to be cynical, and fearful, and doubtful o...

barrack obama is the next president...

Image
today is a good day. today is (well "was" when i started the blog) november 4 th , 2008 and barrack obama has just been elected as the 44 th president of the united states. holla ! i think all this time during the election i still had my doubts over whether he would actually win. after 200 and 2004 it sort of felt like a democrat might be a long way from the white house. look at us now. we got together in a big way. hopefully this is all the beginning of some good times to come. congrats to all fellow dems out there. (i wonder if people actually read my blogs) i think obamas speech was awesome. made me proud to be an american . all of it, a clear message that this country is coming back. also, i am a proud of my state tonight. democrats made it a sweep! woot ! i am born and raised in denver and will never leave colorado . our state is once again a new frontier when it comes to progressive ways of living and thinking. a progressive west is the new frontier of the united...

just thinking...

on the eve of the probably the most important election in our history...i was just thinking. What is the difference between a movement and a revolution? Is it scale? I think this entire campaign season has been a movement. a shift in the way this country will move towards getting back to its place at the top is under way. obama is getting hispanics, blacks, and youg people out to register and hopefully to vote. people that have always felt like their vote doesnt matter are starting to understand that maybe it does after all. No matter what, people are tired of government that starts wars and sells our country away. They are tired of the bullshit “lets make all our friends rich and get back at dads old enemies” sort of politics. Whoever our next president is (and unless the moons on jupitor have aligned for john mccain, it should be obama :x: ) they better come with fresh ideas and make them happen. No more stalling on progress. "these are historic times we're living, bros!...

this blog sort of jumps around, but i like most of its content...

i think as the presidential race unfolds its becoming clear that the race divide in this country is still very present. there is also a great divide in this country when it comes to who has money and who does not. the rich people seem to think all is well with our economy and we are still a strong nation. maybe for those with a couple million in the bank, it probably would be hard to understand the basic needs of the everyday american. i feel that john mccain is a guy that represents so many things that are wrong with our country right now. he is rich, old, son of a military big wig, a former military big wig himself, and white. we is the sort of guy that owns 7 homes and has $100 million in the bank, but wants to run a country where only about 2% of the population can even begin to relate to his way of living. and also a country that is feeling very pinched in the wallet, due in large part to his party’s hot streak of bad economic policies. what does john mccain really have to offer u...

our next president better....

im not sure if it was a national ad, but i saw a funny john mccain commercial the other night. it was a propaganda'ish advertisement. trying to force the idea that his military experience and vietnam heroics somehow make him a capable leader. what exactly do you lead in a p.o.w. prison for 5 years? probably not much. anyway, what sort of message is he really feeding us. is he saying that being in the navy in the 60's means he understands how to fight a new kind of war, the sort of war that never going to go away? how exactly does a military background help out when the next president is going to inherit a crashing economy, soaring energy prices, buku inflation, and a deteriorating infrastructure? how can a guy in his 70's be the sort of forward thinker the country needs to dig us out of the hole were in? the united states has lost its way, and four more years of backwards thinking will be the end of us. there is an entire generation entering the workforce, and for the first...
